Embracing the Unexpected: Navigating Life’s Surprises

Full transparency—this is a 🤯😖 post. My initial plan required photos of an activity that’s currently closed until later this month, so it was either skip a Thursday post or make it work. So, here I am! With that spirit of transparency, I thought this would be a good time to check in and open up a little more, especially since it’s been seven months since my initial blog post. 😆

First and foremost, I want to thank my subscribers, commenters, and anyone who has taken the time to read, like, or share a post. If you’ve done all three, I owe you a big hug! I try to keep my posts as quick reads—you read them, you're intrigued, and you might even check out the places I mention. Regardless, it still takes a moment out of your day, and I am truly grateful for that.

Starting over is never easy, and I'm not sure if it ever gets easier (if it does, please let me know!). As I mentioned in my last post, this is my second time moving back to Freeport. The first time was challenging; I had a specific path in mind, and returning after university wasn’t part of the plan. But here I was—miserable and lost. Even though things didn’t go as expected, every part of my journey had a purpose, whether I saw it at the time or not. I’m grateful that I do now. I even managed to tick off a few bucket list items, including the most daunting one at that time: pageant life. 👸🏽

Since this last return, I’ve still felt lost, but this time with a sense of purpose. How does that work? I’m not entirely sure, and I never imagined it would be possible. Along with my blog, I decided to learn a thing or two in the kitchen. This isn’t my first rodeo, but I figured it was time to take off the training wheels and dive into real baking—from scratch 😱. Baking runs in my family, and after shadowing my aunt for a couple of days, I put my skills to the test and have been honing them ever since.

Like with anything new, I initially thought I'd just keep it to myself. But, similar to my blog, I wouldn’t have realized its potential until I shared it publicly. So, here are a few photos of the baked goods I've made over the past couple of months:

Even though my plans didn’t unfold as I had hoped, the opportunities and people I’ve encountered along the way have made those plans feel insignificant. Do I know what’s next? Nope, but I feel like I’m right where I need to be. There's beauty in simplicity—can you see it?

Have you ever had to start over or try something new? How did it feel, and what did you learn from the experience? Share your stories in the comments below.
