Merport Bistro: A Culinary Gem

If you frequent downtown Freeport or pass through on occasion, you’ve likely noticed our next stop on our food journey.
I may sound like a broken record when I say this, but I am a complete sucker for good food, a good atmosphere, and good customer service. I think I may start referring to it as F.A.C.S. (see what I did there 😆). Whenever I receive all the F.A.C.S., I am happy, and I will become a repeat customer—no doubt about it! Well, this restaurant served all the F.A.C.S. on two occasions! I think it’s safe to say they have a new loyal customer, and this restaurant is Merport Bistro.
On my first visit, I went with some friends and had their "Bistro Burger," topped with roasted sweet peppers and grilled onions tossed in a savory ginger sauce. It reminded me of the LaRoc Burger when I received it, and just like them, it did not disappoint. There was something that stood out with the burger that made it over the top—diced onions in the patty 😍🥹. I don’t know if it’s the foodie in me, but there’s something special about knowing that everything, or close to everything, is freshly made.
On my second visit, my parents and I went for breakfast. I had seen photos online of their breakfast and was excited to try it. Even though it’s a simple menu, there were some good options to choose from, and it took me a little longer than normal to decide. I finally settled on the “Butcher Omelette” that came with potatoes and an order of “Buttermilk Pancakes.” My folks ordered the “Avocado Toast” and “Stew Fish.”
Let me tell you! Merport Bistro has my heart in their hands right now! Pancakes and omelettes are probably my favorite breakfast meals, and they did not disappoint. The only thing I can say is either I didn’t get enough potatoes, or they were just that good because they disappeared a little too quickly off my plate 😂. It was what I was hoping for and more.
The icing on the cake is that on both occasions I visited this restaurant, I was greeted by the owner at the door and led inside to a table. I’m not sure if that happens for everyone or if I was just that lucky, but I thought it was a nice touch. Also, on both occasions, the waitresses were very pleasant, which I admired because I’m a sucker for good customer service.
So whether you’re in town or just passing through, add Merport Bistro to your list of restaurants to check out. I guarantee you will not be disappointed!
